history
m.e.designlab began as an online portfolio for the commissioned projects and personal works of Matt Everley; award-winning, freelance art director and graphic designer located in Chapel Hill, NC. It was set up as lab space to experiment with web design and layout in many different fashions, as well as showcase a variety of projects. Every section in the site was built differently from the others in some way or another, which not only helped the designer to learn, but also continues to give a myriad of options to use in future projects. Every project presents different objectives and obstacles, and with the continuing development in hardware and software, there are always going to be new things to discover.

m.e.designlab has relocated to Hickory, NC but has retained all clients from the Triangle area as well as regional and national project work. It seems the internet has made it possible to provide quality design and oustanding customer service from anywhere with a high speed connection!

All photography for this site is original, taken in various places over quite some time. All pages were designed in Photoshop, then brought into Fireworks and Dreamweaver. About section was laid out using layers and a tiled background image. Archives section was laid out using tables. Captures section was laid out using frames. Inspiration section was laid out using tables and a nonrepeating background image. All pages utilize Cascading Style Sheets. Some tables were created in Fireworks while others were created in Dreamweaver.
